TOP 5 NON TOURISTY THINGS TO DO IN SEATTLE

I've always been a fan of the Pacific Northwest, though I haven't been venturing off that way until recently. Seattle has been my most recent trip. Overall it was beautiful with a ton of things to do!!!! To my surprise, it wasn't that rainy (I think it rained only one morning). The views were beautiful, people friendly, and I ate an abundance of seafood ??? other than beating this slight cold from traveling from 60-degree weather to 95, it was a successful trip.

We all know that Seattle is known for its fish market and the needle. But, I try to avoid the extra touristy things at all costs as they're super crowded and crowds just aren't my thing. So what does one do in Seattle? Here is a list of my top 5 nontouristy things to do in Seattle.

Pikes Place Market early morning

Being a seafood fan and a completed of markets one would expect Pikes Place was a must go on my list. I lucked out and went there early morning on a Saturday (around 8 am) where most shops were still setting up. This was the perfect time to go. Not too crowded, you can still walk around, breathe, and enjoy all that the market has to offer. When you're at Pike's Place head over to the gum wall. Do you dare leaving a piece of gum on the wall?

Freemont Troll

Haha!!!! This one was a total accident. The troll is located in the Freemont district, and unless you know about it or do some blog reading not May people talk about it. Literally a troll under the bridge. This huge sculpture was made by a group of artists who won a bid on a Seattle monument. Pretty cool stuff. Remember to pay the troll toll (shout out Bill for that reference).

R-rated Seattle Underground Walking Tour

Like most cities, Seattle has a bunch of walking tours. The R-rated one was recommended by a coworker and boy was I glad. You learn a lot about the history of Seattle, how the entire city is built on top of the old one, and best of all the legal prostitution and drugs that went on in the beginning of Seattle's time. The best part was that each tour guide has a great sense of humor so you're learning a bit of history and getting a stand-up show at the same time.

Chihuly Glass and GardenMuseum

This was probably my favorite part of the trip. I've always been a huge glass blowing fan. Even took a class once (I wasn't very good). But I was always fascinated by what some artists can do. This Seattle native was a genius, without giving too much away it's a must go!

Argosy Cruises

If there's water, I'm on a boat!!! Seattle was no exception. This tour (which had a full bar), only an hour long, goes into the history of Seattle. You get to see the city from a different, yet beautiful angle. The staff was very knowledgeable and they took great care of you.
