15 FREE THINGS TO DO IN LONDON THIS WEEKEND

What is there not to love about London. It's a huge city with so many things to do. Has that big city feel (that I love coming from Chicago) with a European flare. There is so much to do from sight seeing, roaming the streets, to just getting lost and taking it all in. But London can get quite expensive; it's actually one of the most expensive cities in the world. But there are still so many things you can do to fill your time while there that do not involve spending money. Here's my compilation of 15 FREE things to do in London this weekend.

Visit Platform 9

For those Harry Potter fans out there. Yes, this place really does exist. It's located at Kings Crossing and it's quite magical. Enter the world of Hogwarts you won't be disappointed. Tip: The queue is usually REALLY long (up to an hour sometimes) go on at night before you head out on the town. I only had 4 people in front of me, and I was already dressed cute for the photo.

Get lost at Tate Modern

If you're a huge modern art fan like me you have to go to Modern Tate. It was hands down one of the best free museums I've ever been to. Massive two building museum with 4 floors of exhibitions, take a few hours to get lost and see some beautiful art.

See the changing of the guards

You can't go to London without seeing Buckingham Palace. This is on everyone's London bucket list. Though going to the place costs money, seeing the guards change is free. See the schedule of when the guards change here so you know when to go.

London

Learn about the city with Strawberry Tours

This tour company is AMAZING. They do a ton of different tours from paid to free. I did the Harry Potter tour and the Street Art tour. Both were awesome ways to see the city from a different perspective while learning more about London. Check out the other tours they have also.

London

Visit Trafalgar Square

One of the most beautiful squares in all of London, it's a great place to come people watch with a bottle of wine. There is usually a ton of different entertainers to sit back and enjoy, as well.

Walk down the Royal Gardens

They have a few of these Royal parks throughout London that are absolutely beautiful. I went to Regent's Park and was not disappointed. Different sections of the park are dedicated to different things; there was a rose garden, a royal garden, beautiful lakes and more. The parks are massive and you can easily spend a few hours strolling around them.

Visit the smallest police station in all of the U.K.

Located near Trafalgar Square in Neal's Yard see the smallest police station in the entire country. It's small and easy to miss, but a pretty neat experience.

London

Take a stroll down Millennium Bridge

If you're heading to Tate Modern definitely take the route of Millennium Bridge. It's a beautiful modern bridge that will leave you feeling inspired and happy to be there at that very moment. You can see St Paul's Cathedral in the background, great for a photo op.

Go window shopping at Harrods

Harrods is remarkable, even if you're only window shopping. This massive department store has over 300 departments. Go browse through it and see what departments they've made up that you would never imagine having its own department.

Walk down the Thames

It's the longest river in England and is beautiful as well. Please walk down the Westminster Bridge! It's a beautiful walk and you can get different perspectives of both the London Eye and Big Ben that you wouldn't have gotten if you went straight to these places. Great photo op too

Fake an English Accent

Let's face it we've all tried faking an English accent at one point in our lives. We'll here be the perfect chance to brush up those skills and pretend you're a Britt for a day.

Get lost at Camden Lock District

One of the quirkiest districts in London. I can get lost here for days. Roam the streets and pop into some of the shops or pubs, each one has a slightly different feel to them. But you will notice a theme throughout this entire district, some may call it weird or quirky, I call it awesome. While you're there be sure to check out Camden Market.

Camden Market

It's a huge market that has food, nick nacks, clothes and more. One of the biggest markets I've ever seen in Europe. Even if you don't want to spend money on anything it's worth going to and checking out. Count how many weird things you can spot in an hour. Totally fun!

London

Goodwin's Court

Another Harry Potter reference, if you walk down this street you will see that it looks just like Diagon Alley. But even if you're not a Harry Potter fan this is a neat little street that dates all the way back to 1690. One of London's hidden gems.
