WINNING THE SUNSHINE BLOGGER AWARD
Last week Emily at Living Fit with Emily nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. It’s funny that this happened right after I put Winning a Blogger Award on my Bucket List for my 27th year. The sunshine award is given by bloggers to other bloggers who are inspiring, positive, and creative. I am extremely honored to receive this and pass this onto other inspirational bloggers.
Nominees for the Sunshine Blogger Award are required to write a post that includes:
- Answering questions the nominator included in their original post.
- Nominate 11 other bloggers and make 11 questions for them to answer in their post.
So without further adieu let’s jump right in.
What is your favorite outdoor activity?
I LOVE the mountains, so hiking during the summer and/or snowboarding in the winter would probably be my favorite.
Why did you decide to start blogging?
I was becoming nomadic and I really wanted my friends and family to stay up to date with my travels. I felt like starting a blog would be easier than constantly posting on Facebook. This way who ever really wanted to read about my travels could and I didn’t feel like I was showing off as if I were posted on social media.
What has been your biggest blogging challenge you had to overcome?
Dealing with my constant internal battles of self-doubt. I hated writing and always felt I wasn’t good at it. I quit my blog at least 15 times already because I always felt I wasn’t good enough.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about starting a blog what would it be?
Not to quote Nike but, Just Do it! Now that I understand what blogging is all about I really wish I would have started earlier. If you’re thinking about starting a blog just start one. There will always be things you’ll learn on this journey and will need to improve, but it shouldn’t stop you from starting your journey.
Is your favorite season winter, spring, summer or autumn? why?
It’s easy for me to say summer because I’m a summer baby and who doesn’t love their birthday. But I think my favorite is autumn, I love the cooler weather, sweaters, pumpkin flavored everything, and hockey!!!
What is your favorite book? (I’m stealing this question for Shashi because I love it!)
My current favorite is the Alchemist. I’ve been reading a lot of travel related books lately and fell in love with this one a couple years back. It’s a beautiful story about a boy going from Spain to Egypt and following your dreams. It resonates with me a lot as I’m nomadic and my most recent home was Spain.
What is one thing that keeps you going whenever you have a bad day?
I actually have a couple tattoos reminding myself of this daily. I have the words “you’ve made it through worse” written on my arm and I have the sun and moon design on my forearm. Both of them remind me that no matter what happens in my daily life it can always be worse. They give me strength and remind me that tomorrow is a new day.
What is your most memorable vacation?
My family and I drove to Colorado one summer when I was roughly 16 years old. We were stuck in the car for about 17 hours and it was pretty brutal. Besides for this one time we went to Colorado we have only ever gone to Wisconsin Dells as a family. The Dells are nice when you go every couple of years, but going there 18 years in a row gets a little repetitive. This change of pace and scenery is what made this trip unforgettable.
What is your favorite blog?
I love Alyssa’s My Life is a Movie and Kiersten’s The Blonde Abroad. Both are awesome blogs that focus on solo female travel. I followed both of their blogs for a while before starting my own. They’re super inspirational and I hope to make it as big as them one day.
What was your first blog post and would you change anything about it now?
So I think I’ve actually deleted my first blog post ever, probably during one of those times where I wanted to quit and hated blogging. But, currently, my first blog post is “Why Did You go to Alaska in July?”. Since revamping my blog I’ve definitely gone in there and changed things like added links, SEO, headers, and other basic blogger stuff. But there are things I would change since then too like image consistency with the rest of my blog.
How do you keep yourself organized when it comes to your blogging tasks?
I live and swear by my calendar. I have a calendar for work, blogging, workouts, my personal life, my blog’s social media, and more. My blogging calendar is organized into days I’m posting what content, day’s I’m promoting what, day’s I’m posting on social media, daily tasks, weekly networking groups, and more.
Questions for my nominees:
- How long have you been blogging and what motivated you to begin?
- What’s the story behind your blog’s name?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
- What would you ask for if the answer was ‘Yes’?
- What’s your happiest travel memory?
- If you were offered an all expenses paid holiday to one destination in the world, where would it be and what would you do there?
- Is there a place where you would love to live for a year?
- What is your top foodie experience of all time?
- What are your 3 favorite cuisines?
- What things are you most grateful for in your life?
- How do you overcome your fears?
Have a great day everyone, it looks like the sun is trying to break through those clouds!
